The ceremony was held at our home on the 21st of July 2007 and I’ve created this page so that everyone who was there and those who couldn’t come can see the pictures.
We didn’t use clothes from any particular period. We just tried to get a medieval feel to it. The ceremony itself was put together from examples on the Internet. We just edited it so that it fit our beliefs a bit better. My husband has no religion and I’m closer to the Nordic traditions than anything else.
We are fully aware of the fact that handfasting isn’t a part of the Nordic tradition, but we wanted to give his parents an occasion to celebrate since they wouldn’t have an opportunity to attend any of their children’s weddings.
The ceremony is in English because the ceremony master and many of my friends aren’t Norwegian.
I hope you’ll like it, and if you’re planning a handfasting of your own, feel free to use some of these ideas. Please don’t copy it straight off this, because your handfasting is supposed to be your own, not made by someone else.
I’m not going to write about how I cleaned the house and everything else. I think most of you already know how and when to do that.
Last but not least, I’d like to say a huge thanks to our ceremony master Sibylle and my friends in The Village, Hekse.no, Gaiaforum, Hedenskabet, Veneficus, Gimle, TarotNorge, Nordisk Paganistforbund and Rablerne.
Best Wishes
Linda
