Crafts Aplenty

Even though my shoulders prevent me from doing as much as I’d like. I’ve still finished a number of objects lately, most made from papier maché. If you see something you like, give me a shout. With the exception of the pirate’s telescope I made for Lilith, they’re all up for grabs.

Origami Spoon

Paper SpoonI was in a hurry when I bought my yoghurt before jumping on the home. So I didn’t notice that there was no spoon. After a search, I found this tutorial:  http://ow.ly/64mAv and made my own using an index card.

It worked out just fine, and I got to enjoy my vanilla yoghurt. One thing has to be said about using paper spoons though – They force you to eat fast. The ‘scoop’ part split at the middle fold before I was completely finished, but I managed anyway.

My Galdrabók

Many people have asked me what my Galdrabók () looks like. So I thought I’d show it off. I designed everything (frame, pattern and ) and built the frame myself. A friend in Denmark did the leather and I bound it all by hand. It’s printed on a color laser printer.

It isn’t light reading. There’s about 1400 A4 pages, and the thing weighs in at about 12 lbs/6kg.

I haven’t done much work on the physical in the last couple of years, since I’ve saved almost everything on my server. What’s here is what’s in it now. But I plan to do something about that. I’ve got lots of room for additions.

The setup in the pictures isn’t my altar or anything. It was just an arrangement I did when I took the pictures. You’ll get to see my altar when it’s finished.

Me time and crafts

I simply have to get some me time every day. I find myself missing this. I have to get back to meditating and relaxing. I have way too much on my plate.

You might think it’s easy to just drop some things, but it isn’t. I only do what i absolutely have to when it comes to , but I still find it too much. I’ve always hated , so that doesn’t help. I wish I was financially independent, so that I could hire someone to do the things I don’t want to do. I know it sounds awful, but there actually are people who enjoy cleaning and washing. I don’t.

I want to devote myself to my and my , not my job and housework.

Well, that’s enough venting for a while. Let’s get back to more positive things.

The are growing like crazy. Well, some I’ve had to give up on, but the rest are doing fine. One is already 3 ft tall. It can get up to 12 ft, so I guess it has to grow fast.

I’ve made a couple of things in papier mâché. But the only thing I’ve finished so far (painted and all) is this crocodile.

I’ve also started on a staff for myself. So far it’s only been de-barked.

I’ve experimented a bit with and food. Among other things I’ve made bread with :

…and home made tortillas:

Which I used to make Quesadillas:

I’ve also made Skir (fresh cheese):

…and a ham and cheese pie with peppers and leeks:

All were surprisingly simple to make. Have a go yourself. I look forward to tasting more new things, and if you have any suggestions, please let me know.

So what have I been up to?

Well, I’ve been very busy lately with herbs, housework, and work. But since I’m at home with a cold today, I’ve got a little time to update you on things.

I’ve done some :

I’ve replanted a lot of the herbs. This is what they look like now:

I’ve also done some experiments where I’ve baked in the skillet to emulate :

Oats, Wheat and Milk

Barley and Water

Both tasted fine with the spreads I used (avocado/egg and shrimp/mayo).

The last few days I’ve been very fed up with the regular, boring food I eat, so I’ve been trying new things. The day before yesterday, I made Penne with Creamed Salmon:
